Here, upon a table prepared for the Last Supper scene, Jim Caviezel has laid out his film script and a collection of small religious objects. The effect is one of a still life painting, a study in light and shade juxtaposing the scene\'s on-screen props with the private possessions of its main actor. For Jim Caviezel, acting Jesus was a way of expressing his deeply held Christian faith. In order to help keep himself focused on the person of Jesus during filming he would carry this collection of private religious pieces in the tiny satchel shown centre right, wearing it close to his chest whenever his costume allowed it. His devotion also caused him to often pray, asking for help to play the part of Jesus as authentically as possible.
